Is this article necessary? All sorts of happenings have been called the "start of a new era" all through history, this is just the latest in a long line.

First of all you should sign your posts with four tildes(~). Second of all, I think it's significant whether or not the term is applicable in other cases. Google-ing ["New Era" 9-11] will give you a bunch of links that shows you the kind of ubiquituos New Era rhetoric that was used. I suggets you can rename it (New Era of Terrorism?) or merge it(September 11?), but I don't really want it to go away because I think it's a significant historical reference. Personally, I'd say merge it w/Sept 11; it refers specifically to the Sept 11 time frame, but the term "New Era" on its own is hopelessly ambiguous; it could refer to anything from the Declaration of Independence to the first space sattellite to a desire to reintroduce the Equal Rights Amendment to the invention of a new detergent ("ERA" is already a laundry detergent). It's interesting that "New Era" has become associated in this way politically, but needs to be mentioned in the same breath as 9/11 to refer to it. Doovinator 07:05, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
