Saab images

[edit]

Hi,

I like the images of Saab's you're uploading. I've a picture of the first Saab on the german wikipedia at http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:DCP_1391.JPG , perhaps you can use it.

Yes, that is a great picture of the Ursaab! But the name of the file 'DCP 1391.JPG' is not very clear.... I will use it in the Ursaab article (still to be written).

The drawings you upload, what is the source of those, did you draw them yourself? -- JeLuF 19:38, Jun 16, 2004 (UTC)

click on a picture and read the info - they are line drawings by Gunnar A. Sjögren from his book The SAAB Way. This book is entirely on line, follow the external link on the 'GAS' article. MH 19:50, 2004 Jun 16 (UTC)
I've looked at Image:Saabasj97.jpg, where this message was missing, and I didn't look closely enough to the others. Thank's for adding it. -- JeLuF 19:56, Jun 16, 2004 (UTC)
I was working on it, the message is there now. MH 20:03, 2004 Jun 16 (UTC)

It looks like the image Image:C900conv.jpg you uploaded risks being deleted. Could you perhaps add the necessary information. // Liftarn

period at the end of sentence

[edit]

Hi and thanks for your changes to rate of fluid flow. I have just one remark. Could you please put a period at the end of a formula, if that formula is at the end of sentence? This is the standard math usage, and it looks better in general. Thank you. Oleg Alexandrov 16:45, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Miraflores disambiguation

[edit]

Hi, I notice you've created a disambiguation page for the word Miraflores. Disambiguation pages should include links to each place's article page. Please add these links. Even if the place has no article yet, you should add a red link, and someone will eventually create the article. Greetings, --Tuomas hello 22:13, Feb 25, 2005 (UTC)

British spelling

[edit]

Sonett, it is in poor taste to convert American spelling to British spelling without reason, such as changing from "neighbors" to "neighbours" in Parallel parking. I refer you to Wikipedia:Manual of style:

If an article is predominantly written in one type of English, aim to conform to that type rather than provoking conflict by changing to another. (Sometimes, this can happen quite innocently, so please don't be too quick to make accusations!)

The article in question is written predominantly for those who drive on the right side of the road, which is explicitly not Britain. As the primary author of that article, I am not bothered by this, but someone else may find a problem with this behavior. --Cluster 23:22, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I noticed you uploaded this image about a year ago—it would be great if you could add references to the numbered parts in the articles in which it is used. Thanks! Postdlf 16:28, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

List of second moments of area

[edit]

I think the 'List of second moments of area' should be a separate article. I think it was a mistake to combine the two quantities (moment of inertia and second moment of inertia), as it confuses two very different physical quantities. The fact that their derivation is similar shouldn't distract us from that and combining them, in my opinion, is like combining articles on mass transfer and fluid mechanics because you can derive both sets of governing equations from Reynolds transport theorem.

Also, 'moment of inertia' and 'second moment of inertia' are two separate articles-- I created the second one--(I'm the person behind the IP address) and I edited the 'moment of inertia' article to tease the two issues apart (which I think makes sense). If 'moment of inertia' and 'second moment of inertia' are separate articles-- why combine the lists? -- I don't think it makes sense to combine the lists and this is why I made a separate article.

I think it is very awkward to have two different tables in the same article. Merging the two tables would be better-- but that cannot really be done for practical reasons.

If different things are combined-- I think 'area moments of inertia' should be combined with the centroid ---- and 'mass moments of inertia' with 'mass center' (this is how my statics textbook (Meriam JL, Kraige LG, Engineering mechanics, 3rd Ed., John wiley & Sons, Inc., 1993.) presents the quantities.

Also, if they are to remain merged the article should be renamed. "List of moments of inertia" suggests the quality associated with angular acceleration only-- and that is in fact how the article was created --OR-- the title is less clear than it could be. A more appropriate name would be 'List of moments of inertia and second moments of inertia.'

I think things should be kept as simple as possible. If the connection between moment of inertia and second moment of inertia is so important -- perhaps a separate article should be written (like one could be written about Reynolds transport theorem).

[edit]

Thanks for pointing out the typo. You are right that the strain scale is wrong, it's more like a high-strength steel then structural steel. It's hard to show both the slope of the elastic portion of the curve and the full width of the plastic portion in a plot that doesn't take up the entire page. I'll play with it a bit, see if I can't make it look better.

What do you mean about "reference numbers" - maybe sigma sub y and sigma sub u? Toiyabe 19:27, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've made another go of it -

Reference numbers are:
1 - Ultimate Strength
2 - Yield Strength
3 - Rupture
4 - Strain-hardening region
5 - Necking region
What do you think? Toiyabe 18:59, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
OK, here's another one -

I based this on the one at the Dutch wiki - [1]
I'd like your opinion on the reference numbers -
Is B or C in the yield strength? What is the other one?
Region I should be the elastic range. Is that drawn correctly, or should it end at 'B'?
What's a good term for Region II? 'Yield Region'? Toiyabe 21:18, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

SECAM vs. SÉCAM

[edit]

I do not think SÉCAM is the proper abbreviation, but rather that SECAM is. I would not normally comment to you, as both forms are used in the article, but I am doing so because you changed the abbreviation SECAM to SÉCAM on multiple instances. Please see the talk page about the issue, as I am considering moving the page to SECAM, which would be highly inconsistent if all instances of the acronym on the page used SÉCAM.—Kbolino 04:22, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Carburetor

[edit]

I've reverted your deletion of the nomenclature from image:CarbNomenclature.jpg. Moving the nomenclature to the image file page requires multiple clicks to view it, and putting it in the caption makes it difficult to view the image and the nomenclature at the same time. I've also swapped the positions of the two images in Carburetor, since the cross-sectional schematic goes better with the operational-basics section of the article. Scheinwerfermann 14:52, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That was a silly thing to do. You may have created it, but you don't own it!
I never claimed to own it; let's be grownups and leave the namecalling and putting words in others' mouths out on the playground where they belong. The image with nomenclature is used in the English-language carburetor article right now, and that's appropriate. If you want to use it in other-language articles, that's terrific...use image:CarbNoNomenclature.jpg , which has the lettered arrows without the English nomenclature. Hi Sonett72,

I am interested in an addition you made to the 'Hydropower' article on the 25th July 2005. In it you added to the 'Physics' sebsection.

I would like to know where you got your source material for this from since I am interested in quantifying the kinetic power of water where there is no significant change in elevation. I am therefore interested in the final equation added to this section in particular (for which I independently derived the same equation).

Also, do you know why has the symbol \phi</math> for discharge been replaced by \varphi</math> in later versions of the article?

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Borgwarnerlogo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:46, 12 September 2007 (UTC). Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Homokinetic-joint.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. Request to move article Monte Carlo incomplete

[edit]

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Monte Carlo to a different title - however your request is either incomplete or has been contested for being controversial, and has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete will be removed after five days.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added a place for discussion at the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved. This can easily be accomplished by adding {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the page, which will automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 17:32, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Robert J. Sinclair

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Robert J. Sinclair, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Although I do believe that this person's notability could be established, this article would need a fundamental rewrite to make it not read like an obituary.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. License tagging for File:Bobsinclair-sandiego07-saab9-5.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bobsinclair-sandiego07-saab9-5.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:06, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Punctuation on Mark Twain

[edit]

Hey man, I can see you want to help, but it is standard (and correct) to have punctuation *inside* the double quote. I don't think you should be changing punctuation in articles to a less standard form. Cratylus3 (talk) 20:27, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Garage doors

[edit]

Please for goodness sake, if you must keep a photo of your garage doors on Post and lintel, then shut the doors so nobody can see your car or whatever else it is you don't want people to see, and then take a decent high resolution photo of it. An image with that crude blanking only deserves to be deleted. Sorry, but I'm sure you can see some point in this? ProfDEH (talk) 17:59, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:KarinSlaughterbookcover.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:KarinSlaughterbookcover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the edit you made to the page Irukandji jellyfish-2 and reverted it, as it appeared to be unconstructive, in that it changed the redirect by blanking the page. Should it be listed for speedy deletion? I must be missing something, so forgive me if I stepped on your toes. Geoff T C 23:57, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Saab91safir.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Saab91safir.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. File permission problem with File:Saabdraken.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Saabdraken.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 18:00, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Files missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You uploaded, File:Bobsinclair-sandiego07-saab9-5.jpg, where you either stated that you had permission to upload it or that evidence of such permission would be provided on request. Wikipedia needs the permission to be explicit and proven at the time of upload.

Please read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, which advises on how to confirm the permission you obtained from a third party.

It is also advisable to ask the third-party what source attribution they desire, as opposed to marking the image as having been "sent personally".Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:39, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Staticallyindeterminate.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
