Merge

[edit]

I think we should consider merging this with fritter. Peter Isotalo 10:49, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree, since fritter is a coating concept for all kinds of foods (especially fruit and vegetables), while the list here comprises dishes that consist nearly entirely from just dough that has been fried. While there's similarities, there's enough distinction to the concepts (and enough material on both pages) to keep them separate. -Krasnoludek (talk) 11:12, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kaya balls

[edit]

I removed the following paragraph. It seems like a lot of attention to give to a single manufacturer. If the machine is highly notable, the text should be sourced to something other than a vendor's website. Kla’quot (talk | contribs) 08:33, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is a Malaysian machine which makes, among other things, "Kaya Balls" whose recipe and description seems to indicate pretty conclusively that they are a very doughnut-like snack (although they are ball-shaped rather than toroidal) with coconut (Kaya) being the primary flavouring ingredient and they seem to be baked rather than fried. The machine also makes "corn balls, red bean balls, blueberry balls and custard balls" (which might also be considered to be varieties of doughnut-like items) and the maker also has another machine dedicated to making elephant ears and frying saucers.

Redundant entries and orphan entries

[edit]

There are a number of entries which simply give an alternate name in a different language. This is not helpful; the redundant entries should be consolidated under single name, probably the name of the Wikilinked backup article. Discussion of details, origin, and references belongs in the Talk page of the backup article. This "List of..." article is not the place to start a new article; if a backup article does not exist yet, the entry should be deleted here, and a backup article should be created first. I may resort to commenting out the entries without a backup article. Do not restore them until an acceptable backup article exists. Reify-tech (talk) 19:05, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rename page to "Deep Fried Dough Foods"

[edit]

There are multiple methods of frying dough, article should be moved to Deep Fried Dough Foods for clarity. Jansencheng (talk) 12:37, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
