Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive1157#IP_editor_adds_unsourced_content_to_JP_writing_system_articles. Nickps (talk) 12:15, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent unexplained content removal and a lot of disruptive editing by anonymous users. The Media Expert (talk) 14:20, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP user persistently adding unsourced content to article. Hamtechperson 14:23, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Same edit warring IP-hopping sock that lead to the previous page protection retuned making the same junk edits. Reverted again, but based on past persistence I doubt that the problematic editor will just leave it alone. oknazevad (talk) 14:27, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Constant vandalism by Lampung IP user InsidePitch 48 (talk) 15:51, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Extended-Confirmed Protection:

Edit warring and removal of sourced content by a new account. Fragrant Peony (talk) 16:06, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – "Tommy Robinson" is in the news currently and his acolytes are adding untruths to this page. I predict this will be for a short while, but an ounce of prevention is better than cure. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:38, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – by IP addresses. Alan Charlotte (talk) 21:39, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Page targeted due to recent events in Bangladesh. Vinegarymass911 (talk) 10:15, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary protection: Persistent vandalism. PATH SLOPU 10:31, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: "Frequent vandalism, fake edits, and removal of correct information have plagued this page over the past week. I am requesting semi-protection to prevent further disruptions." Zeeshan ahangar (talk) 10:40, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full protection: WP:PINKLOCK says that template protection should be used on high risk templates/modules or on pages that have a high transclusion count. It also makes it clear that the purpose of template protection is to replace full protection when the reason for protecting is not a content dispute. Considering that the transclusion count of this page is 0 and that the reason for protection was a content dispute, template protection is inappropriate. There were EC users involved in the dispute, so downgrading to ECP is not an option. Nickps (talk) 11:34, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Done Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 13:27, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Spate of random IP vandalism, probably related to the political situation in Bangladesh right now. AntiDionysius (talk) 12:50, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 13:32, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: On-and-off disruptive IP editing, in which they are adding in "Kee Marcello" into the timeline, who was never a member of the band. HorrorLover555 (talk) 13:21, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing on this page over the past few days (other than when it was full protected) thanks to the most recent news cycle theatrics. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 13:53, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Comment:: Why? The talk page is not protected. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 05:11, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Declined – This page isn't currently protected. Favonian (talk) 09:12, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

In "Early life and education", the article says "In 2003 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi". The source for that paragraph as archived (https://archive.ph/ek0sE) states that she "dropped out for good in 2001".

I suggest changing "In 2003 she enrolled..." to something like "She enrolled at the University of Mississippi, studying journalism and political science and writing for The Daily Mississippian, but left the school in 2001." Or of course, add a source for her enrolling in 2003. Elizabeth Internet (talk) 06:56, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To add a section with the template {{edit protected}}: To add "Hong Kong since 27 July 2024" to the first paragraph of the article, based on the following sources: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]. 119.237.212.104 (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, well. This is the English-language Wikipedia, you will need to write in English. If Arabic is your first language, you may be more comfortable contributing to the Arabic Wikipedia. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 23:01, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
