Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: user keeps reverting changes that are required since the bank expanded into international markets, i can not keep up with this user he keeps reverting 184.22.62.37 (talk) 07:22, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

These links (https://librabank.app + other TLDs hosting the same site, except for .ro, the real site) are 100% fake. For some easy giveaways, perhaps check out "Our Trusted Alliance of Partners" (Science Research Group? HealthPeople? Seriously?), or read their TOS (At the point when you register for our site, we cycle and keep your information we have about you however long you don't erase the record or withdraw yourself (subject to laws and guidelines)), or run a WHOIS and discover that a supposedly real bank decided that Namecheap is a great way to get their website going. A block of the two IPs (one of them a /64 range) and one account adding these links seems more appropriate here. Tollens (talk) 08:01, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection as an WP:ECR Arbitration enforcement action for the WP:PIA topic area. Left guide (talk) 09:44, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. — Czello (music) 10:26, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: WP:BLP violations. IP and new accounts changing personal pronouns based on change to X profile. No reliable secondary sources to verify what could be a case of X account being hijacked. Escape Orbit (Talk) 10:32, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Already protected. Lectonar (talk) 10:41, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please look again. It is not. Unless I'm confused about something? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 10:49, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    It’s pending changes protected??? Malcolmxl5 (talk) 11:13, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. PC proved insufficient. Favonian (talk) 12:37, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: Per argument on the talk page. This was a target of one particular vandal, protected all the way back in 2009, and there's no reason to keep the page indefinitely semi'd because the user in question has been gone for a very long time. O.N.R. (talk) 01:19, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Downgraded, and thus Pending-changes protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. I removed semi-protection, put the page on pending-changes protection and have watchlisted. If there's no great disruption. this can slowly peter out. Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

In "Early life and education", the article says "In 2003 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi". The source for that paragraph as archived (https://archive.ph/ek0sE) states that she "dropped out for good in 2001".

I suggest changing "In 2003 she enrolled..." to something like "She enrolled at the University of Mississippi, studying journalism and political science and writing for The Daily Mississippian, but left the school in 2001." Or of course, add a source for her enrolling in 2003. Elizabeth Internet (talk) 06:56, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To add a section with the template {{edit protected}}: To add "Hong Kong since 27 July 2024" to the first paragraph of the article, based on the following sources: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]. 119.237.212.104 (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This page guides the user on how to Publish Changes, how to Mark Editing as Minor, and how to add the page to a user's Watchlist. The screenshot on this page (shown below), does not show options for marking the edits as minor or adding the page to a Watchlist, as the screentshot might be an older version of the "Save your changes" dialog box.

I request you to update the screenshot to show the current version of the "Save your changes" dialog box. A version of that screenshot can be found here, however, that screenshot uses a red rectangle to focus on marking your edits as minor.

    A few final thoughts:

    - Both this page and its Talk or Discussion page are protected for my user account. Thus, submitting the request here.
    - If I can be given adequate permissions, I can create the updated screenshot and update the page.
    - This tutorial page is fantastic. Thank you for making it.
    - The page is classified as "High-Importance" mostly because it is the first Help article a new user sees when they click on their username. WordLunch (talk) 15:12, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
