Are images okay on bio pages? -- sugarfish 05:26 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)

They should be, with proper attestation. Fire Star 05:51, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)

It doesn't seem right to me to have the link to the web site in the info box. It is already listed in the external list section. Info boxes should only link to original websites. I am not saying it is a bad website - far from infact - but it doesn't belong there since it makes it seems as if it is his official website which it isn't. Birthplace

There was no "West Yorkshire" in 1957! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.241.153.68 (talk) 15:50, 15 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Done changed to West Riding of Yorkshire. Jim Michael (talk) 21:12, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Bottom001.jpg

[edit]

Image:Bottom001.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 04:44, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pepperami?

[edit]

Is it Edmondson who voices the various Pepperami ads, or just someone who sounds like him? 86.3.150.116 (talk) 10:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Right on both counts. It is both him and someone who sounds like him, ie him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.102.116.250 (talk) 15:23, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vyvian dumb?

[edit]

For a start, this is very non-encyclopoedic language. It's also untrue. From somewhere in the second series Vyvyan offers this critique of the two main characters in The Good Life: "They're nothing but a couple of reactionary stereotypes, confirming the myth that everyone in England is a lovable middle-class eccentric". This is a **** sight more intelligent than anything anybody else ever says in the series. If you think Vyvyan is dumb you either a) haven't watched the series or b) have very high standards.

When Ade plays opposite Rik M he always makes the RM character look stupid, with the possible exception of the Dangerous Brothers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.102.116.250 (talk) 15:23, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Difficulty in working with Mayall

[edit]

The passage about Edmondson going off working with Mayall on Bottom was a bit unclear. I deleted a line about one of them stopping drinking as it was ambiguous as to which it was, but if anyone can find a reference and word it clearly it should go back in Rankersbo (talk) 16:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Charity work?

[edit]

Some of his other charity work for Comic Relief and others might be worth a mention? e.g. his triumphant performances on Comic Relief Does Fame Academy? Nodrog75 (talk) 09:20, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Contentious unsourced content

[edit]

Some of the content can be sourced to The Daily Mirror 1 December 2004, "Ade: It's Time for Rick and I to Split", Barbara Davies. Of course the Mirror is hardly the newspaper of record, but there's the info FWIW. Rich Farmbrough, 02:16, 16 January 2012 (UTC).[reply]

adrians displeasure with his wiki article

[edit]

https://web.archive.org/web/20130930065527/http://www.adrianedmondson.co.uk/the-occasional-blog/2012/01/nerdy-wikipedia-bastards [repointed to Wayback machine 10:10, 28 June 2024 (UTC)] wow. perhaps letting adrian write about himself because HE IS HIMSELF! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.176.141 (talk) 13:02, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wish I could have a long career playing the same role over and over and over just changing the names. Not even his character. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.75.6.121 (talk) 14:32, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Ade at Sea

[edit]

Article is only one sentence long and unsourced, the information would fit into Edmondson's article Knope7 (talk) 02:42, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

maybe that page will grow as ppl get to see it and react to it. he has lots of pages for shows, it's not much yet, but ... --Dave Rave (talk) 20:37, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
According to that article, the show ran for 6 episodes and new episodes have not been produced in nearly 2 years. If someone wants to improve it now, they are certainly welcome to, I just don't see that as being particularly likely. Even if the page turns into a redirect, it can still be returned to being its own article if someone wants to put in the required work. Knope7 (talk) 01:41, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
My suggestion is that that the Ade at Sea page is deleted. Aberdeen01 (talk) 22:14, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Knope7. Redirect and merge into this article.Rayman60 (talk) 14:06, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia comments

[edit]

In an interview with the Daily Mail Ade Edmondson talks about his experiences attempting to edit his own Wikipedia article—presumably using the Adrianedmondson account. It does't quite bear out what he says—I can't find any evidence of a block! Betty Logan (talk) 03:11, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This has made the news again, in a slightly better source. Not sure if anything needs to be done given the one inaccuracy cited has apparently been fixed, but noting for posterity.--Launchballer 11:57, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ade EdmondsonAdrian Edmonson – Post-1980 sources more often use "Adrian". It's also how he's credited on screen in recent TV work like Rain Dogs, and is the name on the cover of his upcoming autobiography. Belbury (talk) 09:16, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

...Did you make a typo in this request...? Edmondson/Edmonsen? Mountaincirquetalk 13:04, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Edmonson" apparently! Yes, I meant to retain the current "Edmondson" surname. Can I edit the template above or will that upset the bots? Belbury (talk) 13:06, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
