The 2004 United States Academic Decathlon national finals were held in Boise, Idaho from April 14-17.

The national champion team was from El Camino Real High School in California.

Curriculum

The overall theme of the 2003-2004 curriculum was America: The Growth of a Nation. Aside from the interview, speech (prepared and impromptu), and essay events, the curriculum contained the following events:

Super Quiz (Social Science)

The Super Quiz topic was The Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Art

[edit]

Art focused on American art, including early American art, Native American art, and photography.

Economics

[edit]

Economics focused on fundamentals of microeconomics and macroeconomics, as well as the U.S. economy in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century.

Language & literature

Language & literature focused on the novel Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather, as well as one speech and five poems.

Mathematics

Music focused on 14 tracks on a CD titled Patriotism, Diversity, and the Pioneer Spirit: An Introduction to Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century American Music.

Science
