Pronunciation

[edit]

I'm not sure about the pronunciation currently on this page, which is /ˈɡærɪd/. The first mention of pronunciation on the page, as nearly as I can tell, was added in this revision, and stated "It is pronounced 'Gair-ad' with the thrid "r" silent." This remained until it was converted to the present IPA with this edit. The IPA doesn't appear to match the less formal pronunciation it replaced, with "ad" becoming /ɪd/. I made a sound file of how I pronounce it, which another user transcribed to IPA as /ˈɡærɪd/. That seems to me a bit closer to what was originally in the article, but I'm a bit bad with vowel sounds and I live pretty far from there, though still in the state. Anyone want to weigh in and see if we can get a correct pronunciation (which I would also like to add to James Garrard, btw)? Acdixon (talk · contribs) 18:41, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
