Fair use rationale for Image:Ndp90s.PNG

[edit]

Image:Ndp90s.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

This article has been moved without any prior discussion from "New Democratic Party leadership election, 2003" to "New Democratic Party leadership convention, 2003". I disagree with this move, and not just because moving an article should be discussed first.

There was a good reason for using "election" in the title instead of "convention", which is used for the other NDP leadership articles: it was an election -- it was a fundamentally different way of selecting a leader than the previous delegated conventions. As the article says:

"The leadership race was the first to be conducted under the NDP's new partial one member, one vote system, in which the popular vote of the members is weighted for 75% of the result. The rest are votes cast by delegates for affiliated organizations (mainly labour unions). It was also the first Canadian leadership convention to allow Internet voting; delegates who chose to vote electronically were given a password to a secure website to register their votes.
"The race was heated, with the leaders campaigning to NDP audiences across Canada. One of the most notable events of the campaign occurred at the convention in Toronto, the day before the election, when candidate Pierre Ducasse made a stirring speech. [1] Ducasse's speech attracted widespread praise, [2] [3] although its late delivery was unable to sway the postal and internet votes which had already been cast."

I propose to move the article back to its previous name, and ask for comments from other editors. Ground Zero | t 00:18, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's called a convention by the party, and that is what it is. As well, other Canadian parties use the name of the party plus convention, plus year. That seems to be standard.--Abebenjoe (talk) 04:19, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:British Columbia Liberal Party leadership contest, 2011 which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. 117Avenue (talk) 02:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
