"List"

[edit]

I really don't understand your problem with listing stores, it is not an ad for the store, it doesn't endorse the store, it says the store exists, and links to an article on the store. Further, this is acknowledged in London (where a Department store has that name), but can't somehow be acknowledged in the US? Your reversions are inappropriate. Lists of individual companies are fair game in WP, see, e.g. List_of_banks, which has dozens of banks from many countries, some with articles. How is this different? dml 03:23, 6 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The section is not a list of stores; it only includes one. If we had a "list" of banks which only included the HSBC, that would also be inappropriate. Markalexander100 05:49, 6 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Lists have to start somewhere, feel free to add to it. By creating a place for adding this, more will be added. Wikipedia is a process not a product (at least not yet). dml 12:46, 6 Jun 2004 (UTC)

If you want to add a list, add a list (I'm not going to create one because I don't much care if we have one). But putting up an advert and calling it a list looks pretty bad. Markalexander100 06:25, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC)

What in your mind about this consititutes an advert? It is an acknowledgement of existence. dml 11:52, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The logo on my underpants acknowledges Nike's existence. It doesn't acknowledge Adidas's existence. That's why it's an advert. Markalexander100 06:03, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)
