Hello NeuronExMachina and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Please don't add websites to Category:Websites if they're already in a subcategory. For example, Google is in Category:Internet search engines which is under Category:Websites already. Thanks, Lupin 01:04, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Untagged Images

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CarnegieMellonBooth.jpg, Image:CarnegieMellonDownCut.jpg and Image:CarnegieMellonMobot.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. :-)

Thanks so much, Mailer Diablo 04:11, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I actually took these photographs myself. What are the pros and cons of the different licensing methods? Thanks! --NeuronExMachina 22:47, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

MSL speculation source?

[edit]

Can you source that claim you added on Mars_Science_Laboratory? Not that I'm saying your fabricating, not at all, only that it would be nice to read up on it. Source it on the article please. --BerserkerBen 04:46, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Good idea. I've added the relevant links to the article. --NeuronExMachina 06:03, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Game ad

[edit]

It seems someone's found the commercial that you were talking about on the Ecco the Dolphin talk page :) --Ethii 08:59, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The content of the article was "Just a bloody start point. Feel free to inser the real text here ..."[sic] added by an IP in January 2005, and then somebody added a {{delete}} tag. That's it. --Sam Blanning(talk) 13:31, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hm... I noticed that only the 2005 version was in the deletion log, but (as can be seen in the Artificial Intelligence discussion) I edited a (presumably) more extensive version back in 2004. Is there any way to access this version? --NeuronExMachina 18:23, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, there was a database crash in June 2004, and pages deleted before then can't be restored by sysops. According to WP:DRV "If there is great desire for them it may be possible to retrieve them from the old database files". I suspect that means that only developers can retrieve them, who are the rarest of creatures on Wikimedia, and "great desire" is going to mean a lot. Still, I can't judge how worthwhile the content was, so you're welcome to contact one of them. --Sam Blanning(talk) 19:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hm... although my memory is rusty, I'm guessing that there probably wasn't -that- much content there. I'll probably just try starting over from scratch. Thanks for your help! Also, do you know of any way that I can confirm that the topic of Mentifex is indeed considered proper for Wikipedia, and not inherently prone to another deletion? I'd hate to put effort into recreating the article only to see it deleted again. --NeuronExMachina 20:49, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If there was a previous AfD (or VfD), I can't find it - it was probably posted on the talk page (as was the custom back then) and lost along with the article. So I don't think it could be deleted as a G4 recreation, because there's nothing to justify it - normally you would run recreations past Wikipedia:Deletion review, but without the deletion discussion they've got nothing to go on as to whether its concerns were met. I think you're pretty much free to create an article, subject to the usual constraints on articles - specifically, notability has to be asserted and verified by reliable third-party sources. I'm not clear on what the subject is, so I can't be more specific. --Sam Blanning(talk) 22:40, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks. --NeuronExMachina 22:42, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:BlueOrigin logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BlueOrigin logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:TSpace logo.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:TSpace logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CaltechLogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:CaltechLogo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 19:51, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ASPLogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ASPLogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 20:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jennifer Brunner

[edit]

I see you tagged Jennifer Brunner and then aborted the claim by not commenting on the talk page. I am not sure why you think the NYTImes is a POV source, but that is the primary source for the article. I am getting fairly experienced with politics bios and I do not think this one is any less neutral than the others. Feel free to point out biased statement examples on the talk page if you really want to debate this, but I don't know why you would.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 01:09, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake... I was about to start up a discussion about NPOV-ness on the talk page and then got sidetracked. Hopefully I'll have time to elaborate shortly. --NeuronExMachina (talk) 22:17, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:14, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Biophoton ("illusive")

[edit]

Sorry to keep removing your comments from biophoton. I realise that stupid claims have been made on behalf of this phenomenon - but similar claims are made about magnets. Does not mean that electromagnetics is "pseudoscience" or that no magnets exist. The statement that "biophotons have never been detected", and that "the term is only used in "pseudoscience" are plainly mistaken. The data is on the page. Please read up a little.... Redheylin (talk) 20:10, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

The article Andy Pasztor has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. fetch·comms 22:26, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Anti-Monopoly for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Anti-Monopoly is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anti-Monopoly until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tetron76 (talkcontribs) 20:22, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Tspace spiral2 final.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
